What is the proper way to set up your trekking poles?

1. Do not extend trekking poles past “stop” label on poles.

  1. Tighten all clear locking nuts so that the locking clamp latches tightly when locked, you want to apply some resistance to make sure clamp is tight.
  2. Set cork handle grips to a length between your hip bone and belly button when standing up straight. Positions might vary depending on arm length and what the user finds most comfortable. For mountain climbers/hikers on steep terrain, many prefer pole length at chest length for more leverage.
